Halogen was mentioned in the OP. A halogen bulb is an incandescent. It has a filament and is an incandescent. It is a slightly more efficient incandescent, but still an incandescent and no where near as efficient as fluorescent or LED. Halogen bulbs burn very hot and you should never touch the bulb glass with your fingers when installing. The oil from your fingers will burn on the glass causing a hot spot and early bulb failure.
