Lithiam AA AAA

We buy COSTCO batteries. Seems like everything we use anymore uses AA or AAA batteries and the COSTCO batteries just last much longer than the name brand batteries.. I know that one of those name brands probably make the COSTCO battery but I find that they don't corrode like others also.

I have not used disposable batteries in a long time. Usually I am using rechargable 1.2 volt Nickle metal hydride batteries, or Li-Ion 3.7 volt batteries.

I have two of the chargers, and that led to the question what are 10440 batteries? What are 14500 batteries? They are the same diameter as AAA and AA batteries respectively. But they are 3.7 volts and close to 2,000 mA. So I ordered 8 each of the AA and AAA battery and they are the same diameter and length as the 1.5 volt disposable battery. But LI-Ion are 3.7 volts.

So by installing 5 of the 1.2 volt batteries and 1 each 3.7 volt battery in a remote control car, it runs quickly, and lasts a long time, much better than the 6 each 1.2 volt batteries.

This is the battery I bought. Same length and diameter as the AA battery.

As for flashlights, I have been using the 3.7 volt 18650 Li-Ion battery. It is 18 mm diameter, and 65 mm long. Some are rated at 5 AH while others are as high as 9.8 AH. I have one flashlight that is 2000 Lumens (equal to a 120 watt incandescent) that holds 1 to 4 batteries, and by using the 9800 mA battery, it will hold 39.2 AH at 3.7 volts!

Most of the time at work I carry a 300 lumen flashlight with one battery 3.7V @4,000 mA and LED of course. It was only $5. Battery runs from $1 to $2 depending on vendor, amount bought at once, and mA rating.

Battery charger above is only $1.27.

If you want normal NiMH rechargable 1.2 volt batteries, they have them. I bought some 3000 mA AA batteries for only $1 each when I bought 48 at once, free shipping. I am using a LOT of them for the Christmas toys.

Whoa! Fred, don't mix battery types. A 3.7V can discharge some of its power very rapidly into the normal AA cells, potentially causing a fire or a POP. It isn't even a good idea to mix unevenly-charged LiIon cells, they can do the same thing. People say "It'll never happen to me" right up until the day it happens to them.

I have bought a few of those Energizer Ultimate cells for use in items that sit around a long time and then get used intermittently (like my camping shaver). They work great. I have some of the 3.7V LiIon cells for my flashlights, but I only buy ones with protection circuits or the (safer but less energy density) IMR, Lithium Manganese Oxide, cells. But far and away I prefer low-self-discharge NiMH rechargeables like Eneloops; these are the workhorses for most devices and I recharge them with a MAHA Powerex MH-C9000.

I agree. I have found three devices with leaking Duracells.
I now buy something else.

Lithium Batteries

These are good batteries, but are not true lithium. Unfortunely, "Lithium" has become the new buzz-word. And there are several types of lithium batteries, all of which have 3.x volt cells, and tend to blow up if abused. They are currently being used in many controlled applications, unfortunely due to the ignorance and carelessness of the general US customer, they cannot be released openly. I have been using them in various high and low drain applications for many years, and have no problems with availability.
