We use the Dish Tailgater. Is it possible to get our home base local channels when traveling well out of the area. Last time out a RV neighbor said he was able to...got interrupted during conversation and I wasn't able to ask how?
By "home base", I'm guessing you mean you want to receive your Idaho locals when you're in some place well away from there, like Florida, Arizona, etc. If that's the case, it's not going to happen on Dish, or Direct for that matter. The local channels are spot beamed, meaning they're aimed at relatively small geographical areas, usually only a few hundred miles around. Your RV neighbor may have been within the footprint of their own locals spot beam. When we're in Pennsylvania for instance, near Harrisburg, we can still get our upstate NY cottage locals from the Albany market, but only in SD on the western arc birds. We're out of range for the Albany HD spot beam signals on the eastern arc.
