It may be an OK compromise for you too. It is really two units in one. It's internal sound processing outputs to three pairs of stereo speakers to three zones/rooms. It's DVD player upcales and has an HDMI out that allows the use of an HDMI input to a TV which is better than Composite RCA yellow. It will also except Digital Optical input but will downgrade it to stereo. Definitely not a home theater setup but fine for my rolling outhouse. It also accepts USB and stereo from other sources. Also has a weather band. It will NOT output 5.1 surround to its speakers.
I mainly bought it as it was a direct replacement for my original CD only model.
