Looking for DVD surround sound receiver

I think I have my subject correct. My trailer came new with a DVD player that also receives AM/FM and has a built in 5.1 surround that I can plug the speaker wires into the back.

Well my player is still working but I can tell it's starting to age. Currently it can eject a disc, but it can't pull the tray back in without a gentle nudge. So I'm looking to replace it before it finally dies, but so far can't find anything.

Has anybody seen a new DVD player that also has a radio receiver and 5.1 surround? I did some google searching which pointed me to Amazon and ebay, but I can't seem to find what I want. So I figured I'd see if anyone on here has ever managed to secure a replacement like this without going to two separate devices.

Thanks

  • Thanks for the replies,I'll update/answer questions to be more precise.

I don't need 12V my current player is 120v only. It looks just like a slim DVD player but it also has a built in AM/FM tuner and the surround sound.

My trailer came with the surround speakers already installed so I figured if I'm going to replace it I might as well not lose any functionality.

I do currently run svideo to computer monitor but my monitor also supports DVI-D and composite and VGA

I looked at Best Buy once but I'll try their website again. I agree I just need a home stereo dvd\tuner and surround box but it's can't be much bigger than a slim player or it won't fit the opening. I must just stink at web searches because I'm not finding it easily.

  • I bought one at Best Buy. I have a small opening in my cabinet so I was restricted on my choices. But they had several models from several different manufacturers and one of those worked for me. Look at the home theater systems. I bought a blu-ray DVD player since we had a number of blu-ray movies. But it plays standard DVDs also. Mine has FM but not AM. Not a priority for me so don't know if any had both or not.
  • 12V? Pretty much out of luck.

You can get in dash car stereos with DVD player but the 5.1 throws a wrench into the mix.

Do you REALLY need surround sound? or are you REALLY after the subwoofer sound?

If after the subwoofer sound then buy a in dash car stereo and add a subwoofer amp.

Otherwise most folks who really feel the need for 5.1 simply buy a compact home stereo system with DVD and 5.1 and power it from an inverter...
