since OP just wants doo-dads, why put them on an old crate that is worthless just so he can show off what each button can do? I'd spend that money on a man cave that I could enjoy 24/7/365.
and yes, negative answers are appropriate to stupid ideas.

Condescending, arrogant old crusty aren't you? I bet he doesn't have a fiberglass roof either - the horror. We all buy what we can afford or fits our needs. If someone wants to add some cool electronic gadgets to their RV, no one cares if you like the idea or not so stop adding your opinions where no one is asking for it. OP asked for advice on a particular subject. The question wasn't "whether Bumpy approves of the idea". Add something positive or move on, life is too short to be subjected to your pointless grumblings. - wopachopExplorer

Sounds fun!! Not much different than a house except for the front door. Will need to get clever making a smart door lock work.
I'm talking about technology. Touch pads, internet, cell phone, auto on/off lights appliances, etc.. voice commands... ie: Siri, Alexa...etc. what would you want, need, find cool to have
Get yourself solar, decent battery bank, inverter, and something like a Verizon jetpack for internet.
That gives you constant 120v AC and wifi. Should be pretty easy to buy something designed for residential use and install in your trailer. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIAll of these things can be done easily and have been results and procedures reported by many users. You might want to break it down a bit. Want good internet service? You need a good cellular plan and need to forget about campground Wifi? Want good TV? You will need to get a good setup for DirecTV or DISH. Want to make your blinds go up and down with a touch pad you will need thousands of dollars. Want to make your lights go on and off you will need a reliable internet connection and a few hundred dollars for the various lights and appliances you want to control.
Some stuff makes sense in an RV and some stuff is just stupid (unless you are a $1,000,000+ RV buyer).
Break it down to what's really important and you should be able to get some really good responses. - northshoreExplorersuprz, I think I get what you are wanting.... look on you tube for a guy who does many RV projects:

This gentleman, in my opinion does a great (you tube) video, no loud music, gets right to the point, no dumb long intros... just good info.
I have learned some good stuff from him, regarding remote controls, dimmers, electronics, and generally what I think of as high tech.
He does videos on a large variety of topics so you have to pick and choose what interests you. - zcookiemonstarExplorerStart with a smart owner
- az99ExplorerThat will give you a new hobby when you are camping. You will be able to figure out why it is not working and them attempt to fix it like all of us with the new smart RV's. :)
- Ok maybe a digital programmable thermostat. Although I don't see the need to connect to your phone.
- pianotunaNomad IIIThe more complex the system the more likely to fail and may be much harder to diagnose. I am not anti hi tech. But I want to be able to go to an ordinary hardware store for replacement parts.

A basic reliable comfortable rv with out more things that are going to fail. Manufacturers are trying this and I would never buy into it from a manufacturer that can’t get the basics of quality construction and reliability correct never mind adding more complex systems . Just curious why the original poster feels the need for rv automation ? Cool probably, needed not necessarily, prone to fail definitely.
