I have been playing around with BC recently. I noticed when you add a new waypoint to a route it puts it in the list alphabetically. If you generate a route with multiple waypoints (even if you entered them in the proper travel sequence) you get a mishmash route. You must select the route and display all the waypoints and manually move them to get the route you want.
So far that is the only way I have figured out how to do it. You can upload the route directly to the GPS. In my case a Nuvi 1450.
For years I have and continue to use MS Streets and Trips to plan a trip. Real easy and straightforward. With the later versions you can also export a GPX file of the route and load it into the GPS and import it as a route. Unfortunately MS dropped S&T. The last version was 2013.
I also use the Delorme products both Street Atlas and Topo. Also have a PN-30.
