Maybe Silicon Salt batteries will make it to MHs someday.

They're withstanding temps of -40F to +158F and can be ignored for long periods. Life span is supposed to be 17 - 20 years, but they haven't been in service that long yet. SI battery clicky Bil...

I see the cost of a typical Silicon Salt Battery 6VDC 220Ah battery is around $270... Not bad if they work like you are saying... These are listed by BACKWOODS SOLAR online... Didn't look up any of the specifications as far as size or weight or connections.
