Some of us shy away from the touch screen kiosks because of the five minute wait while someone proves to you that it is faster to use than a live person can do it on a scanner and electronic cash register. I regularly like to shop at a big box building supply store and if I have time and I'm in a good mood, I'll use the self checkout so I can mess with the employee on duty.
The first screen has several choices and any normal person would assume due to the questions, there is more than one possible spot to touch and that if you brought your own bag and you want the text in English that you could push both buttons. So I do that but simultaneously, the machine can't accept that and if you do it more than once, it looses it's cool and won't work and then the employee who will teach you how to do it correctly comes over and it takes five minutes to clear what I have done and the the employee runs it through for me but you still can't check both boxes either one after the other or simultaneously. So if you select the language, it thinks you need a bag and enters a $0.15 charge for the bag. If you push I brought my own bag, it freezes up and asks you once again for what language. Get the drift?
There is only one fast food type hamburger place that I know of that pays well above minimum wage, has no kiosks, has fresh cooked food, smiling employees and long lines of happy customers and it is making the owner/CEO one of the riches women in the country.
There is even one chain from back east that copies the business plan of her company, decor and all, they even try to make like they are better and fresher, but they can't beat her bottom line.
Look for the crossed palm trees.
