Oh bosh, that's the same old tired argument: you just hate change, yada, yada, yada. I don't hate change per se, I do hate change just for change's sake. Like school districts changing the learning process just to justify the need for school boards and more administration.
I have never done self-checkout, mostly for the reasons posted earlier. I did self-serve gas when it came out because it was cheaper than full service. Like I said: if you want me to do your work for you, then you'll need to pay me. They want me to do more work, so they can eliminate jobs, which will not save me any money, but will add green stuff to the CEO's already bulging pockets.
