Metal Detecting and RVing

I have had a metal detector for a number of years, but I have not used it very much. Recently I got it out when two grandsons were visiting, and both really enjoyed it. They are going with us on our trip to Alaska this summer, and I have decided to take the metal detector along for the boys and me to use. I am wondering if there are other RVers who take their metai detectors along with them and how they use them. Do RV parks permit you to use them there on our own site and perhaps on empty sites?
