Thanks, I had followed the thread on Reddit and was misinformed by another poster.
It is sure enough New Zealand.- He is overlooking a surfing beach and has a skate board laying on the seat.

I agree the photo looks too perfect to be 100% legit. Maybe it started as a real photo and has been processed and retouched until it looks like an advertisement for something.
