- Johno02Explorerbought and installed one of these several months ago, and it works great. Senses motion out about 15 feet at night. Does not seem to attract bugs, although needs further testing there. At least it does not have bugs swarming around it.
- sleepyExplorerUggg!
Years ago I had some one park their camper near us... they were apparently afraid of the dark... they had lights all over their camper controlled by motion sensors... even the wind.
It was like being a celebrity... paparotsy flashing their cameras all night
Heck, I think it's rude to even leave a porch light or lighted steps on all night (or at all)
It is so nice to be able to see shooting stars, the moon, without lights
The only thing that makes the lights better is fire up your generator, tie you guard dogs out to bark and whine all night.
I'm sure that you will enjoy your lights... think how many people you'll be able to offend.
Sleepy (in the dark!) - homefor2ExplorerI also have one and really like it. It is adjusted properly so you have to get about 15 ft. to 20 ft. away for it to come on. We use it if we are coming back at night from visiting other campers but turn it off when we get inside. I don't want it going on when we don't need it.
- RbertalottoExplorerSleepy must be sneaking around within 15, of some campers.... :-)
- SCVJeffExplorerHere we go.... The light police are on-scene
- sleepyExplorerYour silly light doesn't stop at 15 feet
People that are afraid of the dark are often reactionaries...
.. the only shooting around RV's that I personally know of was in a "Camper parking lot at Squall Lake, CA... the RV's were about 4 feet apart, side to side, in a well lighted area. Really crowded, Easter weekend.
We went on by and out in the desert and boondocked well away from other people. On Easter Morning we went back to dump our tanks and fill with water.
There was a commotion... everyone was leaving, it was before at 8am... it turns out a guy in a MH got SCARED in the night and shot through the roof of his motorhome.
He said that he heard a noise and got scared... was trying to load his pistol when it went off. My first thought was "What is hed shot to either side... the bullet would have gon through 4 or 5 Campers before it stopped... how many opportunities would it have had to hit somebody.
Sleepy is never near enough to another camper to sneak around it... you'll never have worry about that. He wouldn't want his wife, kids, grand kids, and great grand kids to think he was a sissy.
If you are that nervous do you sleep with a gun too?
Will you shoot at a noise? - SCVJeffExplorerSo now we are associating paranoid people with IR lighting.
That's great... - Super_DaveExplorerWhen the wife and I go for a night walk we leave the porch light on so we can find our way back to the camper. I hate burning battery while we are gone. On my Eagle Cap forum, a guy bought a light that is controlled by a pocket remote like you might have on your keys for unlocking and locking the door. I thought that was a great light control idea.
