Microsoft "Edge"

A couple of days ago I was reading an article on my laptop. A little window came up and said my default browser was being switched to Microsoft Edge. I don't know why this happened. Now, nothing works with my Norton program, such as "safe search." Apparently, this "Edge" is not compatible with Norton. I have tried going into "Programs" and changing my home page back to Yahoo but it will not allow me to do that. Any suggestions? Please write slowly as this tech stuff is a challenge to me.:)

Mine switches to MICROSOFT EDGE when it needs to view a PDF file... Then when I am done I close out Windows EDGE and go back back to Google Chrome or FIREFOX browsers...

I don't normally use the EDGE but use GOOGLE CHROME and FIREFOX... I only use EDGE here to view PDF files text and to play the game 'World of Solitare' hehe...

These two has never auto-changed to EDGE as default.

EDGE does a whole couple of pages of settings from the three ... labeled more when you move the mouse to it. This is on the upper task bar right hand area.

My EDGE has DEFAULT SEARCH set for GOOGLE SEARCH. There is a large list to select from...

  • Edge is a browser. It is the Win10 version of IE. I recommend just changing back to IE or using Firefox (my preference). You just have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get Google re-set as your preferred search option.

    see if this article helps.
  • Well, would you look at me.:) Sitting here just like a "techie." Thanks for the input guys. And rk911, I read the article you submitted, did what it said, and lo and behold, it worked. Feels nice to be able to repair something without taking the laptop to the repairman. Thanks a lot. This forum never lets me down.
