I've been down this road before and it's madding to say the least. I had to buy the very outdated, convoluted and bloated "Outlook" to do just what your talking about. The problem is; when you send out of "Word" you have limited choices on the format. For us in the business world our lives revolve around "MS' products and for the most part is good. However, if you associate with anyone in academia (Mac-world) they can't open many of the attachments. So, I have to send it as a pdf attachment, even then some can't figure out how to open those either.
Out of desperation I had to revert to a newsletter format, copy and paste from "Word" which is time consuming tedious. I sure hope someone has the answer for the both of us...
