Because he wasnt computer savy, it wouldnt be long (sometimes the same day) and he would be infected with viruses and malware and I would have to go over and clean it off for him. After a time I tired of doing this and set him up with Ubuntu. I believe that was about 3 years ago and he is still doing what he always did, but without getting whacked. So I know first hand that Linux is a much better system especially for those that are for lack of a better term computer illiterate. So for that reason I will continue to beat the drum in hopes that I can make someones life on the internet a little easier. If you don't like my posts, just ignore them as I don't plan on giving up on my quest to make life a little easier for anyone willing to listen. Anyone interested in learning how easy it is to setup a Linux machine can PM me and I will try my best to help.

I question your expertise if a machine you set up was continually infected with viruses and malware. Of all the machines that I've set up there has been one infection about 6 years ago on a box used by a teenager.

The people that I know that have embaced a Unix variant for a desktop are all computer enthusiasts some fo whom work in IT.

A mainstream machine - Windows or Apple will reliably do the jobs that the vast majority of people desire.
