Mifi Antenna

I have a new jetpack by netgear (I forget the model #) that has the ability to have two antennas hooked to it in a MIMO configuration. You'll have to google that for more specific info but basically it increases the speed and reception by increasing the number of data streams your hotspot can pick up and process. The antennas I use are on amazon. My antenna are mounted on the roof. MIMO can outperform cell boosters in some cases. Links below, you need 2 of each. There are other antennas.

I have used a Mifi for almost 8 years now - I have had a 5510 for a lot of those years

I have had usable service in over 99% of the campgrounds we have camped in (271)

For me with that reliability I can not see the need for one

Yes we have camped extensively on the west coast where you are

I've had far better luck (and far more gain) using a Wilson Sleek (now WeBoost) cradle amplifier than when I plugged a roof mounted antenna directly into the Jetpack.

We put our Vz Mifi 6620L on a Wilson Sleek if needed.

AC791L is probably the latest and best of the MIFI hotspots. Accepts two antennas, has latest LTE bands and is backwards compatible to 3G older signals. Some only pick up LTE limiting your reception in rural areas.

If you are wanting to have the option of connecting an antenna directly to the Jetpack, I would recommend their AC791L. It has two sturdy antenna ports that will allow you to attach a MIMO antenna if you choose.

There is a newer model avaialable, but it only has the "test" ports to connect the antenna to and there are quite a few performance issues that several on other forums have identified.

What VERIZON unlimited plan are you on... How much $$ if I may ask...

I'm just on the new unlimited plan. I have 7 phones on mine, so it's not that relevant. But it's $110 a month for the basic service and $20 a month for each phone, mifi, or tablet. It's 22 GB each line before potential throttling.

If you go to Verizon's website, it's just right there.
