motorola t 800 talk about radios

saw a different set of radios at sam's club, talk about t 800 that evidently will link up via bluetooth to cell phones and you can communicate where there is no cell service.
seemed interesting to me.

  • Get your ham ticket and you can get a 25 dollar radio on Amazon that will allow you to talk for 30 miles under the right conditions.
  • Lets see if I got this right.

You need a phone and a radio at both ends.
No cell service but you want to send a picture to your buddy.
The radios hook up and you can move stuff back and forth over the phone.

I suppose it does have it's uses.
  • I too wondered why it was an "improvement" but cursory reading about it indicates that you can then pinpoint the other units location, and do smart phone type stuff without cell reception.

  • Interesting concept but with the limited power of a cell phone blue tooth looks like they may be good for about the area of a football field.

The wild claims of radio ranges on the youtube seems to be normal for these types of radios.

Think line of site, and I mean not a lot of things in between.
  • let me understand this

walkie talkie radios that connect to your cellphone via BT
so you can use your cellphone like a walkie talkie

so you have to carry both around in order to talk to each other when there is no cell service

    makes no sense to me

just caryy the radios and leave the phones in the RV
