Mounting an outside TV

I am looking for suggestions on an outside TV for tailgating. I have a 40" that I won and want to put outside under the awning. Ideally I wanted it in one of the doors but that won't work due to size. My original thought was to mount a bracket on the home and mount the TV each time but decided again drilling into the side. A friend mentioned a tripod type setup but I don't someone tripping over it and the loss of floor space. I am seeking ideas from all you folks.

  • That's what I'm looking for. Very nice, thanks a lot. I'll be searching for that bracket tonight and the speaker set up is another idea to keep it all together.
  • There just was thread where a forum member put a whole entertainment center in his bay. He installed an extending arm from the center in the bay to attache the TV to which put it outside the bay. REAL SLICK DIY.

I'll try and find the thread with pics....the search function and me don't play nice together, but I'll try to find it for you.
  • I got some aluminum bar stock and made a rail that hooks into the bbq rail that is on the side of my trailer. I never use the bbq grill that mounts so it works perfect for me...

The easiest way is just sit it on a table I guess. When i hookup to CABLE TV at the sites I always bring along a second 25-foot RG cable and hook into the pedestal cable TV connection using a transformer splitter. One leg goes to the trailer CABLE connection and the other leg goes to the 25-foot RG cable which I throw under the trailer to use under the patio when I want to bring out a TV set.

    Works for us...

My TV is just a 22-inch model. The bigger the OUTSIDE TV the bigger the crowd gets hanging our at the camp road watching TV with you hehe... The smaller HDTV can also get thrown into the storage bay when the storms come up or we want to walk away from the trailer for a bit...

Also most sides of the trailer in the patio area have a slide grove already mounted for an outside propane grill setup. You might be able to engineer up a quick connection shelf for your big TV there.

  • If your compartment door hinges are strong enough, you can use perforated banding to hand over a door.
