Mouse quits?

Each time I shut down the laptop, and start it -- the wireless mouse quits working.

I remove the mouse "whatchamacallit" from the USB port, plug it back in, and mouse works again.

Any hints why this happens -- not every single time, but 80% ... once mouse starts working, it continues working until shutdown again.
  • No wireless keyboard ...

Checked battery, seems OK, plenty of GREEN -- but will replace it and see what happens. Battery is fairly new, but could be faulty??

Yes, it has a switch on bottom - I turn it off when I shut down LT, and turn it on when booting up LT (usually)

Mouse is a couple years old - not sure how long one lasts. It's not real old, but old in TECH terms sometimes is days or weeks, not years like we think in age terms.
  • Do you happen to have a "wireless" keyboard using a different USB sending unit ?

If so, that can be your problem.

Two weeks ago I had a problem with my wireless keyboard. I was using a different wireless mouse at the same time. I was told the two could interfere with each other, all though they had been working just fine for sometime that way. Got a wired keyboard & problem solved.
  • Check the mouse battery. Does the mouse have a switch on the bottom?
My Logitech mouse has a switch, turn it OFf and ON again
  • Possible reasons:

Your mouse is desyncronizing from the computer because the mouse is weaing out

    Your mouse battery is low

Your usb port isn't holding the mouse usb connector "nub" tightly and it's working itself lose as you hit the keys and/or touchscreen
