Need Opinions for getting internet provider / hotspot

Everything is done over the Internet these days.. I Have a "Straight talk" cheepie contract at WM, with a Samsung S4 which does NOT have hotspot ability on it. Not really sure what I need, But I...

We use Verizon, but find it's still quite common to be camped where there is no Cell phone reception at all. For those times we have an InReach satellite communicator which allows us to send and receive text messages should there be some sort of emergency sort of need, but to be honest, it can be kind of nice sometimes to be disconnected.
