This is the only way to see what it all means but it will come sooner than 5 yrs.

I think it's about corporate greed and trying to grab a larger slice of the pie.

Problem is that fewer and fewer companies control more and more of the internet services. ATT, Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner, and Google control almost all of the high-speed fiber optic in the country. Even worse, it's split up so that one or 2 of those companies essentially have control in a large geographical areas.

The door is open for any of those entities to restrict bandwidth/speed/data limits for any group they don't like. They can also auction speed/bandwidth to the highest bidder, or give huge discounts to the entities that use the most. Either way, it makes life harder for smaller companies and individuals.

Can someone explain to me what really is going to happen? I communicate medical issues by internet email. And living outside the country I have a vested interest in knowing whether I need to plan (expensive) alternatives.

Telephone. Yeah. International Call. On hold forty minutes, waiting for the next available representative...

Net Neutrality has been in existence for only 2-years and to me it was a solution in search of a problem. the internet and e-mail seemed to exist just fine without NN and I expect both will continue to exist just fine without it.

Be interesting to see what kind of web sites begin to pop-up in some search engines and such once the gloves are off again, and they probably won't be Disney videos either listed at the top!
