Netflix forces newer TVs

What exactly did the POP UP say.

And also - you don't use Netflix in the bedroom?

We also saw that message on our oldest Sony flatscreen. It said something like:
“Starting December 1, this device will no longer be supported by Netflix”. I think there was also a reference to a list of supported devices somewhere.

It seemed clear to me that it was referring to the TV itself. I’m not a TV watcher myself, but there are others in the household who are. I’ll leave it up to the boss to handle.

Smart TVs aren't such a smart idea after all. No surprise there. It's the equivalent of a VHS player or DVD built into a TV. Sooner or later it's obsolete. Don't buy a new TV. Buy a Roku and keep your TV where it is. Our TV at home is 11 years old. I only replaced the Roku once due to being too old to support the latest streaming apps, like Netflix.

Both Netflix and Amazon Prime have stopped supporting certain devices -- in our case it was a BlueRay DVD player with WiFi. (My TV is a big rear projection unit with no WiFi.)

I went to Blockbuster and came home with a Roku plus another gadget (don't rememer what it is called) that plugs into the Roku and has actual wires going to the TV. Everything works fine now.

ps: Oh, the "other gadget" is an Insignia HDMI to RCA Converter.

just buy this and move on, my 3k tv back in 06 barely supported anything. i didn't buy it for the built in apps

Blockbuster?? There is only one left in the world. So I have heard. Oregon I think.

It it really that surprising? They are computers. Does Microsoft support all versions of Windows? At some point technology advances to a point where it is no longer feasible to make something backwards compatible.
