With 16 tuners in a Hopper 3, that's just changed.
Plus, the Hopper 3 can record an OTA program + 15 satellite TV programs + ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX on 1 tuner (Prime Time Any Time) = 20 simultaneous recordings.
However, that 2TB DVR hard drive may now get a real workout.

DISH says Hopper 3 will be available this month for $15/month. "Qualifying customers" (?) will be able to get a free upgrade.
A Hopper 3 must use DISH Hybrid Pro equipment which is much simpler to wire than previous Hoppers.
The diagram shows the maximum Hopper 3 network (1 Hopper 3 + 6 Joeys).
