That article is completely useless and extremely bias. It's quotes some numbers but doesn't show any side by sales charts. The reality is that it's pretty much 50/50 in the US.

But even "real numbers" can be misleading. Apple doesn't compete in the low-end of the market. If one only considers phones in the iPhone 6, Nexus 6, Galaxy 6 category, what are the market shares? (I don't know, but I'm sure it is much different than when the low-end phones are included.)
