I was talking with a person yesterday with this very problem with his iphone. He was told by an Apple tech that as the battery gets old it starts to swell and pushes on the screen as that is where the pressure relief point would be. If you don't replace the battery it will crack the screen and then you might as well buy a new one (or some other brand). Just some added information.
