On the device itself, there are menus for building a route, adding waypoints, reordering waypoints and saving/loading routes from the unit's memory. All of that can be done on the device without a connection to the Internet or a smartphone. *IF* you connect the unit and create an account then you can also send routes created on the web or on the smartphone app to the unit as well.
