If you're talking about converting an automatic rooftop dome from DirecTV to DISH, it may be a matter of changing some DIP switches. Maybe. Maybe not. You'll have to get the exact model # to find out.
If you're talking about the automatic rooftop Winegard Travler DirecTV dish, then there's a conversion kit (RP-SK11 and RP-SK21) available from Winegard to change it to the DISH HD Travler version (the SK-1000). The kit is about $300.
The DirectTV non-HD Travler is the SK-3003.
