..Good post Lantley, especially the last sentence,"The only question is which came first the chicken or the egg! Or shall I say the greed or the ethics"
Believing in the Bible and creation, I'll go with the Chicken...but all bets are off on "greed or ethics":)
Probably ethics WAYYYYY back...not too sure about that today. I work for an employer that ranked in the top 5 largest manufacturers in the world. "I" personally know how to treat people and figure if I treat them with respect, they'll work for me...some times it works, some times they take advantage of it, probably thinking that I'm not "on to" them, but I've been around the block more than several times....I figure if the pay and benefits are good, and the people are treated with respect, they'll do a good job, IF, and I say IF it's been a part of their "life style"....a lot of people out there feel "entitled" today...feel "they are owed"...
all that being said, I'm talking manufacturing and we're talking customer sales at a CW or Wally World, Sears, K-Mart, pick your car lot.....BUT, some haven't been brought up, as I"ve discovered with an example set as to what a "work ethic" is....I think THAT's where the business world has failed, though you are correct...it's all about the money....a manager, supervisor, worker, whatever could walk off the job today, and they would just be replaced...life goes on and everyone is replaceable...ie, if you don't want the job, someone else will take it.
Being almost 65, I've seen changes, as a lot of us have in the way business is done, and "customer service" is NO WHERE near what it was in the 60's and 70's, even 80's, but I guess that is life and it's for sure, all we can do, considering what we're talking about here is just express our opinions and no one will truthfully care one way or the other....
...
and as a 60's song went......."and the band played on".......................
