On the back of the DirecTV receivers are one or two LNB connections..
For each connection you will need
1: A/B switch, low cost is ok, need not be a "High Isolation"
Some RG-6 and connectors (And the tool to install) NOTE pre-assembled cables are OK but they use cheap connectors.
A ground block or a bulkhead connector.
Optional part: If the receivers are mounted in a front overhead cabnet as mine are.
Run some RG-6 down teh "A" pillar (The pillar just behind the windshield) so it's under the dash, Then route it outside, I drive a gasser so it went through the firewall via an existing hole.
Route it to a mounting spot. paying attention to high temp places like exhaust pipe (AVOID THOSE) and mount either a ground block (if inside a compartment) or a through wall (if that's where you park it) Mine is on the brake bell crank bracket.
This/these cable(s) hook to the "B" input on the switch
Existing roof cable to that "A" (As in Above)
A short RG-6 Jumper to the receiver (1-2 feet should do it)
Now,,, With the switch on "A" hook up the ground mount.. (Tripod dish) slide the switch to "B" and reset the receiver to "Mate" it to the antenna (DISH network instructions follow). When it comes time to pack up, SLIDE to "A" before you unhook (And reset yet again).
Dish... No reset needed, instead, once hooked up, Point and do a CHECK switch when camping. WHen you pull out and clear the tree, Let the roof antenna lock on and do another CHECK switch.
And that, folks, is all there is to it.
