My problem with the Nook color was not the USB port in the tablet, but the charger that fit into it. It was very fragile. I was able to find 2 at a B&N store, just by calling the ones nearest to me. The store was kind enough to take my CC info over the phone and mail them to me.
I extended the life of one of the chargers by wrapping it tightly with electrical tape, to reinforce.
Their entire charging system is just badly designed.
I did enjoy my Nook for a long time, but decided to opt for something more versatile, in a Samsung Android tablet. I put the Nook app on it and can download any of my books to it from BN.
I'm keeping an eye on BN in case they decide to quit supporting user accounts with purchased books. If that looks like happening, I will download all of them. But I will never buy another Nook product.
