Excuse me. I understand the responses. Somehow I cut part of the post.
Use Microsoft Security Essentials. Free.....
I am familiar with this. I really didn't want any alternate recommendations. I may go with Microsoft eventually, but 360 was also free for a month and included some other software.
My goal was to ask if others have had similar experience or if I should look elsewhere for the problem.
BLOATWARE.
The "other software" bundled in "free" or "trialware" is often garbage could possibly be adware or even malware. When installing free or trialware software (heck even real bought software) I never ever select "typical install" instead I choose "advanced install" or "custom" install which allows me to pick and chose what is installed.
Many times there is unnecessary software which is automatically installed if you allow "typical" install.
I would recommend finding and uninstalling all "extra" software which was bundled with the Norton 360 and see what happens.
Additionally, many software will automatically install a tray icon which means the software automatically starts up when the PC is booted. DISABLE and remove all tray icons which are not "needed" which will free up a lot of your computers resources. Basically you only need the audio (speaker icon), network, video icons. Anything else is wasting your PCs resources...
