Offline navigator for Android phone (BC Canada)?

Google maps allows you to "Store" an offline map on your phone
I've never succeeded in doing it but it says it can be done.
You need to be connected only at the start of the trip
And there is a limit to the size of the map..
But see "Never succeded"
