Older Satellite dish

I bought a 1999 Southwind 32v which has a factory installed satellite dish. Can this dish be used to watch TV? If so, what do I have to do to subscribe etc.?

  • Chances that the dish still works is not the best. Besides the equipment there have been provider changes. You could spend some money and still not have a working system. You might get lucky and have a working SD system.

The dish and controller models should help you determine what you have.

If the dish is DTV forget it as there are reliable reports that they are dropping SD transmission in 2019.

Consider a HD TV and dish.
  • Our previous MH had a manual Dish Network dish. You need to determine which service the dish is for. Most of the older ones seem to be for Dish Network. You will need a receiver and a subscription. Aiming the manual dish was always a misery for me. When we got a new coach, we sprung for a Tailgater Dish Network automatic dish antenna. Best blood pressure medicine I ever got.
