I use Flicker to store photos. Free or a pro account for 25.00 yr. Pretty easy to share / organize pics. Then you can share them while you are still around :)
I use disks to store key backup data, but not programs. I figure if my computer drive crashes I will get new software with it or reload from disk I have on hand. Don't have the volume to need the cloud. You could use a portable HD if you want to store more date / programs. Just depends on how much stuff you need to store.
