'tuna, I feel the same as wrvpo that camp wifi will go the way of the dodobird. For instance, there is a very large camp, not far away, still on dial up. The IP has quoted them $195k to bring in fiber cable 3 miles. They have very few complaints about it because travelers that must have inet have their own device.
OP, remember that camps in the americas are not usually near urban areas, and even in those there is an astonishing variety of speed and bandwidth.
Distances are vast. As Cellular coverage improves, 'net availability from satellite tv providers (dish network just announced) demand for wifi from local sources will continue to diminish.
