Poor Wi FI at most RV parks

I was addressing the OP's post. He said nothing about bandwidth. As often happens on this forum, the original question is ignored while everyone attempts to show how smart they are.

Almost every RV park I have visited across the country , always has weak reception at the are of our site. Is there a WiFI signal repeater booster that I can use to take the RV park signal and boost and repeat it to my devices. Thanks

We stayed at a CG in the Florida Keys that told us at check in that the
wifi was for emails and some web surfing. Downloading videos or movies were not allowed.

This is true. Go with a combination. The above and a Mifi. If the CG signal is strained, you can redirect the repeater to the Mifi. Could help keep you under your data limit.

so would you "feel better" if they stated --- Complimentary Internet Wifi is included as part of your Site fee?

+1 And if the campgounds contracted to build a "mega network" to handle everybody downloading movies in the evening campground rates would again go up. But that would be another thread on the forum...right? :)

I have a Pepwave SOHO setup to use the campground Internet service if it is available but I also have a Verizon 10GB data plan on my Verizon Router with Voice. The GA park that I am currently in has a fairly decent service until in the evening. I use the Verizon plan for all of my business/email needs and the campground service for browsing, etc. If the campground service stops working I have the Verizon as the secondary in the SOHO and it kicks in. I think the SOHO was about $150 (one time cost) and the Verizon service is $110/month. The Verizon service not only gives me 10GB of data service but I also have a cordless phone connected to it for voice service in the RV. I used to have the Millneicom service and then tried the Straight Talk data/voice setup but this Verizon device serves two purposes for a few dollars less a month.

I know that many get along on 3GB plans but for a full timer that is really running close if you do much of anything on your computer. I noted that a recent Windows update took 528MB of data and that is a big hit on a 3GB plan. Please don't reply to get an Apple OS because lots of the programs that I use will not run on native Apple OS...probably would on a virtual machine but that seems to be a lot of hassle for no additional benefit. JMHO

I switched to VERZION MIFI that is added to my cell phone account. It is actually listed on my invoice as a cell phone number. This only gives me a 3GB secured MONTHLY DATAPLAN but is available to use for up to five of my WIFI enabled devices. VERIZON has larger dataplans available.

This has been perfect for us across the Virginia and Southern States camp grounds we visit on a regular basis. The 3GB a month DATAPLAN allows us to check in with the kids, pay a few bills, and some surfing of the internet.

If we were interested in any down streaming of movies or HDTV programs we would have to increase our GB DATAPLAN for sure. VERIZON has the MIFI BASED JETPACK PLAN which is very popular among the RV'ers. MILLENICOM VERIZON was also a very popular large GB DATAPLAN but has since been bought out by VERIZON.

I just like the idea of using something that is secured and works at 99% of the places we go to and not have to bother with the FREE WIFI hotspots scattered around the country side.

We also used the Verizon MIFI on our trip around the U.S. two years ago. We had acceptable service (mostly 3G some 4G) anywhere we went with the exception of Carlsbad, NM (didn't work). This included all through the south, Florida and up the East Cost. I agree with some of the posters here-don't expect WiFi to be at the same level of service as your water/electricity. It's all about bandwidth and everybody jumps on in the evening and that's what slows your connection down. They may have great internet service at 2p.m. in the afternoon-and then it stinks at 7 p.m. at night.
