Popup Blocker/Flashplayer Pro is not a Popup ad

This is primarily directed to 1492 or Mr. Wizard. I did a search and after reading posts there decided to upgrade my IE Popup Blocker to HIGH, what if anything besides popup ads will I not see. We...

I have looked up the popup I am receiving and it is not an ad, it is a virus. Several sites have removal tools for it but I haven't opened it and there is no other indication that I have the virus. I will check the program listing and run a check using AGV and then report back.
