I used OneSuite, an online deposit account, for years as my home long distance and never had a problem. It could be used from any phone and calls were charged by the minute at a very cheap rate. Just dial into a local connection, get a second dial tone, and then dial the number you want to call.
Other services besides long distance (fax, international, etc.) are also available from OneSuite.
In checking their site today, it looks like things may have changed a bit, but it also looks like the long distance service is the basically same as I had. Read the details before you commit.
