- FizzExplorerThose services do exist but they are not free.
You pay and usually have to sign up thus giving away a bit of your personal info. - azrvingExplorerOP probably means FREE when he says free. OP, Who's messing with you? :)
It's hit or miss sometimes if you just search the number and you may get a general area which applies to the searched area code. On the other hand I just searched my number and it's no where near where I live or started my phone service.
I use an app called Mr Number that will block callers. Often when I get an unrecognized call Mr Number will show other peoples comments about the number in question. It just basically indicates a spammer.
We had to get rid of our house phones because of all the trash calls and now we have to put up with it on our cell phones. - gboppExplorer

I've never paid for whitepages.com. - Sam_SpadeExplorerBefore you waste a lot of time searching around, try typing the number (formatted) into a Google search. NPA-NXX-1234

NOTHING is free. Why people think that someone else will go out and write apps, maintain expensive server space, keep it up to date, and try and feed the family for free is beyond me. You either get ads, they harvest your email and resell it, or you pay for the service. - RoyBExplorer IIX2 on Whitepages.com... Anywho.com is another one I use here... Both free here... I am using google and Firefox here for browsers... I just tried my number on whitepages and it worked fine. Also gives you a map of the location...
