Well, you're not paying so it must be free. How's that working out?gbopp wrote:

Those services do exist but they are not free.
You pay and usually have to sign up thus giving away a bit of your personal info.
I've never paid for whitepages.com.
When I try white pages it wants me to register and pay. What am I doing wrong?
NOTHING is free. Why people think that someone else will go out and write apps, maintain expensive server space, keep it up to date, and try and feed the family for free is beyond me. You either get ads, they harvest your email and resell it, or you pay for the service.
Hold on a minute buddy! Those politicians that hand that stuff out are the best money can buy. :) - jrobert01ExplorerWell the Goverment is giving so much away why not numbers and some things are free welfair food stamps housing medical if you are to lazy to work.Sorry i should not have said that

try 411.com
When I search my number it only brings up the area of Michigan related to that area code. It is just the area that I purchased my phone many years ago.
When I search my name it brings up my current address but no phone number. I tied a few others and it's the same. Name does bring up address but numbers give no info. Thanks
That's because it's most likely a cell phone number or a telemarketer. Only landlines come up with names. - toedtoesExplorer IIII use 411.com
If it's a landline number, most any of these sites will give the name connected to it.
If it's a telemarketing number of a cell phone, the sites won't give a name, just a general area (or sometimes nothing).
In that case, I do an internet search on the number including area code. Most often, it's a telemarketer and will show up with comments. In that case, I block it.
If it doesn't show as a telemarketer, I hold off on blocking it. If they call twice in a few days and never leave a message, I block them. If they don't call back, I figure it was a wrong number. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIIn the old days White pages dot com or 411 dot com did that.
But today they all send you to a paid site for the "Fill information"
Plus if you are trying to track 3rd class callers so you can sue 'em under Title 47 SS 227 the number is likely spoofed and thus of no use. - RoyBExplorer IISure is strange... I do notice here when I try to lookup a cell phone number it just shows the location map and who the carrier is...
I guess I should investigate how to shut down my local phone number since it is opened up to anyone... I have had it on a DO NOT CALL lIST...
Oh well - beat this one to death it appears - Off and running...
Roy Ken - dbatesExplorerMost of the "Free" one were bought up by a major provider of web data. White pages is free if the person your looking for has a land line and is not an unlisted number.
The other problem is than many people are going to cell or wireless land lines (AT&T is pushing these) and; therefore, are not included in the "Free" websites. Annually I make hundreds of call for my Lions club citrus and rose sales and large numbers of previous customers have dropped their land line numbers (which were listed before) and are now using only there cell or wireless phones which are not listed on White Pages and White Pages will refer you to a service that might be able to give you a cell phone number for a price.

I just tried 411.com and it looks very similar to switchboard here. I did notice it has another block to select being neighbors. This listed all the neighbors names and street address. Pretty neat....haha...
Have you tried a different browser maybe... Try GOOGLE CHROME or FIREFOX and see how it works...

I'm on firefox and tried IE also. Dead end for me but it did kick me over to whitepages again and the price went up to $29.95. :)
My daughter (young) says she has tried and cant get numbers either. It must be genetic. :) - RoyBExplorer III just tried 411.com and it looks very similar to switchboard here.
