Go back to them for a rebate - it's currently on sale for $49.99 CANADIAN - about $10 US

Ink Jet-vs Laser--We only travel a couple times a year where we are gone a couple months at a time. It seems like every time I wanted to use the ink jet, the ink had dried out. So I replaced it with a laser and have not had that problem since. However, this is a printer only--no copying, no scanning. I would sure prefer an ink jet, but don't want to buy a new cartridge every time we head out.

Bit of an IT guy here with a bit of working knowledge around printers!

First question, do you need pictures in the spur of the moment? If yes than what I say makes no sense for you!

Use a service that prints the picture for you. Pick one of the 30 high end online print shops or one of the 1000 low end ones that will print your pics and mail them to you or let you pick up at a local shop. Way cheaper than owning a high end printer and paying for the ink!

For documents invest in an app called turboscan, cost $3 When I bought it. This lets you take a picture of anything, frame it with ease so only framing in what you want regardless of your picture taking skills and pdf's it for you. Email it to yourself or anyone's else.

This is what I have been doing for the last 3 years and will add in my job I get ink for free!

Model number is 3755. It is basically the size of a loaf of bread. Comes in colors. I bought one from the HP site for $70 (same price as Amazon or Walmart, etc). With FREE shipping. I ordered it on a Wed afternoon and it showed up on Friday. Amazing.

Only comes with a 3 ft cord so I went to Amazon and got one that is 20 ft long.

We purchased an Epson WF-100 color printer due to its compact size, wireless connectivity and ability to run on battery. It stores easily. We also bought an Epson ES-200 scanner to use for scanning photos and documents. We prefer to keep things electronically when practical due to space limitations.

Turbotax online is a blessing. I'll be comfortable doing them that way. I prefer to rid myself of paper at every opportunity.

What drives me nuts when travelling is doctors offices. They won't email you a bill even if you request it. In today's world I find that incredibly backward. They'll just have to wait for their money.

I do. At 62 years old, I have never done them any other way. And I agree that I don't trust the "cloud." I want my stuff local. I have about 3 backup methods and don't need the cloud.

My paranoia paid off once. I had bought lifetime warranty brake pads from AutoZone. Over the years, I would remove the worn out brake pads and carry them in to AutoZone, they would look them up on the computer, and replace them free. Once, I did that and they said there had been a computer crash and they had no computerized records and I would have to buy this set. I went home and got the original register receipt out of the glove box and took it back to AutoZone. They honored the warranty.
