Get an external USROBOTICS Fax Modem. I did, years ago. It works great. Then you can buy whatever printer fits your needs without needing to limit yourself to only fax capable printers.
DW wanted a scanner, so we got her this Neat Single Sheet Scanner. She loves it. The only thing it won't do is copy pages in a book like a flat bed scanner.
With this you can stop limiting yourself to printers with a copier. That lets you look at much smaller printers, too.
