I recently purchased a Winegard G2+ portable Antenna for use in my Bighorn 3270. I called Winegard and they walked through the install. Only, there was a problem. In trying to hook up the cables, the install went smoothly if the antenna was hooked up to the tv directly. ( we went through an open window). When they had me go through the trailer, it did not work. After hooking up the antenna to the tv, we went and hooked up the antenna through the trailer and it would work. The other problem was it would not work on all channels, some of the channels would have the screen saying that there is a signal loss 771. I called Directv and they said it was a trailer problem, but they could not say what the problem was.
I hooked up the /winegard direct to the TV and the 771 problem went away. When I re-hooked up to the trailer, the 771 came up again. To clarify-Hook-up to tv everything works. Hookup to the trailer directly-nothing works. Hookup to the tv, after getting the signal, then going through trailer, partial success.
What is going on?
There must be a splitter in your trailer somewhere and the satellite system will not work properly if there is. If you do not have 2 separate dedicated lines outside, one that says Cable and another that says Satellite, you are likely trying to use or modify the Cable entry coax and that only works sometimes.
If that's what you are doing then I would run a new coax from some outside location that is convenient directly to where the receiver is located and this will resolve that issue.
