Pure Sine Wave Inverter

Looking for a deal on a 300w or 400w pure sine wave inverter. I just want to run an LED TV or a small laptop, so very little power is needed... but it won't hurt to go a little larger.

Looking for a deal... not the best one in the world.

I have used a 2000 watt MSW for 10 years with no problems.

It should be Noted, that If this is house inverter that was installed by the MFG
It is not a cheap "chopper" style like many of those from the auto parts store

You really don't need a pure sine wave inverter, unless you just want one. I run my LED TV and Dish receiver on a cheap truck stop 400w modified sine wave one and they work just fine. As for the laptop the same holds true. I've never had any problems charging it on a regular inverter.

The list of things that will not run properly on a PURE SINE WAVE inverter:

Anything needing more starting power than the inverter can provide
    End list.

A partial list of things that may not operate properly on a MSW inverter
Any Radio including TELEVISIONS, Sat Receivers and epically AM radios.
    LED lamps
    Clocks
Any device using a digital timer
    Electric Blankets
    and much, much more

Note the inclusion of TELEVISIONS in that list.

He needs a True Sine Wave

There are a few in the 300 watt class on the market, I can not make a personal recommendation but I think one called Samulex (if I've not mangled the spelling) has been recommended by others in the past.

GOOGLE: 300 watt true sine wave inverter

I got a whole stack of hits, Including E-bay where prices are often lower.
  • I used a 1000W MSW inverter for years on several TVs, DVR, computer, and on my VIP211k sat receiver. It worked fine!

Just bought a Samsung 32" TV. When I plugged it into my MSW there was a pretty loud buzz coming from inside the TV. It worked OK but I thought that the buzz was a sign of problems down the road.

Better safe than sorry so I bought a 300W Go Power PSW inverter and it works fine, no more buzz!

The buzz may be from an inductor in the switching power supply saturating because of the low peak voltage of the MSW inverter. Just guessing on that.
  • My biggest concern was efficiency and I chose a Morningstar SureSine which has the best efficiency in a 300W that will surge to 600 for 15 min. moving parts read no fan.
  • I have a cheap 400w Xantrex modified inverter that works perfect, just thought a pure sine wave might be safer.
  • I've been very happy with my Samlex 300w pure sine wave.

Got it here for $133 link....................

I would stick with the PSW inverter, had the power supply start to overheat, the fail in my TV using MSW. No issues with new power supply and PSW inverter. your mileage may vary ;)
  • choice #1 300w Go Power PSW $149 Amazon ?

choice #2 300w Vector MSW $39 Pep Boys

your TV and laptop both have "switching' power supplies,
they might run slightly cooler using PSW, but they do NOT 'have to have it'

i ran my laptops and TV on a vector for years
this motor home came with inverters installed
so I left the Vector installed in the previous MH
