Questions Re: DirecTv Transponder Signals
When I setup my dish I always use the built-in signal strength meter with my receivers. The screen always defaults to satellite 101 and Transponder 1. I always use this default setting to zero-in my dish. The maximum signal I have ever obtained on that transponder is 98%. If I switch-over to the screen showing all of the different transponders I will see several with 100% and several with much lower numbers, and even a couple zeros.
My questions are, if I have 100% on one transponder, why don't I have 100% on all transponders? Aren't they all coming from the same place and going to the same place? Also, why will my other receivers show different signal strengths? They're all hooked up to the same dish pointing to the same place. And, why is it that sometimes when I have a clear sky with no obstructions in different locations, I can't get as high of a signal on 101, Transponder 1?
I never have a problem with any channels if I can get 101, Transponder 1 above 70% (maybe lower, but that's the lowest I have ever had to settle on), so my questions aren't something I have to get answers for. I am just curious as to why things are the way they are.
