The standard for CARS and small trucks is to hook to the ignition so it turns off when you shut down.. of course in Motor homes.. Not always the best idea.
The best idea is a SPDT toggle switch.
In one position it's a "Car Radio" and runs off the chassis system via the ignition switch ACC lead
In the other position it's a HOUSE radio
If the switch is also a CENTER OFF type. Well you know what the center does (OFF)
