Rand McNally Dock for iPad

Is it possible to download the dock to my iPad 3 so I can update my GPS?
The cables would need to be joined with a female/female USB box if it would work.
  • Not sure what a Dock is, but iPads are updated one of two ways: Through iTunes with current updates already on the host computer, or via WiFi to the same PC, or push update from the Apple Store.
  • The Rand McNally Dock is installed on a computer and is used to update the Rand McNally RVGPS. Normally with a computer with USB ports the GPS is plugged in and the update is accomplished. Since an iPad has no USB ports, my question is: does the iPad have the capability to handle the Dock and therefore download updates to the GPS?.
I can handle the cable issue of connecting the two cables.
  • Pretty sure you install the Dock software on your PC or MAC. Then sync the iPad using iTunes with the PC/MAC to get the updates, if there are any.
  • My problem is that I have no PC or Mac. Only an iPad.

    same as above.
It's either done via PC or Mac, cabled or WiFi, or directly from the iTunes Store IF Rand McNally supports that. All of my NAVIGON updates are through the store. If it does they should appear as updates.
  • I thought the Rand McNally Dock only ran on the Microsoft operating system.

    Wrong ?
  • Ahhhh, maybe so.
I might be visiting with brother and his PC.
