Rand McNally RV GPS

I read this forum daily to get ideas I had not thought of. That frequently happens. On rare occasions I have a thought that has not been posted. Such is the case on this thread. Both DW and I drive and find information overload a real problem sometimes looking straight ahead, monitoring both side mirrors, watching the rear monitor camera look at gps and or listen to phone directions is just too much for this old brain.

Our solution is that the driver watches the road and drivers side mirror with an occasional look at the passenger side mirror. Whichever of us is not driving monitors the passenger side mirror and camera, the rear camera and pays attention to proper lane choice as indicated by gps and or phone. Since we can actually communicate with each other because all other radios, music, etc are off in conjested areas, the driver sometimes says to the passenger "check the side mirror" or whatever he/she wants while the driver keeps focused on the road ahead.

Dividing up the duties especially in contested areas works for us.

I have two of them. I broke my first one but repaired it after buying a new one. I will not leave home without it. All of them have some warts but the benefits of hitting a couple of buttons and finding a truck stop along the way or rest stop is fantastic. I use the check list every time we leave a camp spot. Of course it is my own check list. They could improve the way it is edited but it works well.

Using this GPS next to my smart phone with the Waze app makes things really relaxing. As we decide where we want to spend the night while traveling my wife does some research and then tells me the name of the campground she wants to go to. Using the simple features of the points of interest I can have it up and going in the gps in a matter of seconds.

The height setting warnings is a great help. They could use a bit better graphics but for the price, they work very well. The Dock software on mine seems to work well. I update about every 6 months.

As someone mentioned, having the digital speed showing as well as the speed limit and a warning if you go over by whatever you set it at is handy.

I have had many many Garmins and all were great. Having this one that is built around rving is really a benefit.

We have the 7725 model.
No serious complaints about it.

We like the fact we can put in the length, height, weight and how much propane we are hauling.
It has been good so far about routing us around things and ways we shouldn't go.
We also like it because you can switch between RV mode and Truck mode.

We also like the fact it has a second input for a back up camera that we used for a camera near the hitch to help us hitch up.

The only thing I could even think about saying is wrong with it is the screen touch. It's not very sensitive and sometimes if you say press the A button it pushes the one next to it. You get used to it and make the changes as you type on it.

The campground directory is very good, the user interface is not, in fact might be the worst on the market.
