Thanks to all for their quick feedback. I am likely to buy a cb just to listen in on the chatter as we drive down the road and look for advice on road issues.
I will either look to buy a sat phone or rent one. We will be out and about for abou 3 weeks and it will be quite exspensive to rent, might as well just buy one knowing that we do this every year in some capacity and not having a connection to the world reduces the amount of time we can stay away out. Most campsite we stay at have wifi, but poor cell phone coverage.
