I just switched to dish this past year. I use the original carry out like you.
I only plan to stop service during winter months. At 7 dollars a month is it really worth it to stop service a couple times a summer?
My instructions are the same as yours, no power switch test, plug in wait a couple minutes then switch test again. I think its supposed to clear any memory from a previous location.
Did you set the tabs inside the carryout for dish?
I prefer to aim the dish to the sw for best reception.
I activate service at home first time for the season.
